Analysis: If this was an experiment by Steve Bruce then it is fair to say that the Wigan manager may wish to try a different one. Melchiot still ranks a mediocre fourteenth in clean sheets among players who are eligible at right back, with ten.

Analysis: Games against teams battling against relegation aren't necessarily a good thing at this stage but it may make a welcome relief for Melchiot and Co after the beatings administered by Everton and Arsenal.
