News: Belhadj gave away a penalty in the 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa with a clumsy challenge on Stilyan Petrov.
Analysis: Belhadj is more comfortable as a left-sided midfield player than in an orthodox left-back role, and it is showing with Hermann Hreidarsson out. Keep him on your bench until he is back in his best position.
|
News: Belhadj is a surprise starter against Manchester United in place of Niko Kranjcar.
Analysis: Part of his job will be to help Hermann Hreidarsson with Cristiano Ronaldo.
|
News: Belhadj could be used as the wide left man in a 4-5-1 formation against Liverpool.
Analysis: Belhadj played further forward could be a boost to his fantasy value, especially if there is a left-back who knows how to defend playing behind him. You can then select him as a defender but get the value of his forward surges as well as a possible clean sheet.
|
News: Belhadj made his debut for Portsmouth as a second-half substitute and impressed as the team came back from a goal deficit to win 2-1. "I've been excited by the lad Belhadj in training and I thought: 'Let's have a go at them, stick him at left-back and push [Armand] Traore up one'," Harry Redknapp said.
Analysis: It remains to be seen how Belhadj and Traore fit into Redknapp's constantly shifting team shape over the longer term, but the Algeria defender could be worth a place in your squad on Saturday's evidence.
|
News: Belhadj, 25, an Algeria international, has joined on loan from Lens for the remainder of the season. He can operate as a full-back or left-back.
Analysis: The position presently occupied by Armand Traore would seem the natural one for him to slip into. So expect a battle for playing time.
