Steve Bruce, the Wigan manager, said: "He was sitting puzzled when he first came, watching the way we play, but he's proving now to be a real asset."
Analysis: The quizzical expression was presumably prompted by Wigan's struggles in front of goal. However, Stoke and Portsmouth round off their season so Rodallega could now make a sneakily good acquisition.
